Wuhan COFCO Completed Maltose Syrup Project

On 21 Aug., the completion environmental protection acceptance monitoring report for Wuhan COFCO Food Technology Co., Ltd. (Wuhan COFCO)’s maltose syrup construction project was published on an environmental protection website.

 

Project overview

  • Nature: Expansion and renovation
  • Location: Yangluo Economic Development Zone, Xinzhou District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province
  • Total investment: USD2.21 million (RMB15 million)
  • Construction content: Technical renovation based on the existing high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) facility. The existing liquefaction process remains unchanged, while maltose saccharification, filtration, decolorization, ion exchange, mixed bed, evaporation, and packaging processes are added.
  • Product plan: 80 t/a maltose syrup
  • Main raw material: 68 tons/day of starch
  • Labor quota: No new employees
  • Working system: three 8hr shifts per day, 300 working days totaling 7,200 working hours per year
  • Progress:
    • Approval of EI report: Jan. 2020
    • Started construction: Feb. 2016
    • Completion: Jun. 2016
    • On-site acceptance monitoring: 15-16 May, 2026

 

Currently, Wuhan COFCO has a total daily syrup output of 410 tons, comprising 330 tons/day of high-fructose syrup and 80 tons/day of maltose syrup.
