On 21 Aug., the completion environmental protection acceptance monitoring report for Wuhan COFCO Food Technology Co., Ltd. (Wuhan COFCO)’s maltose syrup construction project was published on an environmental protection website.
Project overview
- Nature: Expansion and renovation
- Location: Yangluo Economic Development Zone, Xinzhou District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province
- Total investment: USD2.21 million (RMB15 million)
- Construction content: Technical renovation based on the existing high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) facility. The existing liquefaction process remains unchanged, while maltose saccharification, filtration, decolorization, ion exchange, mixed bed, evaporation, and packaging processes are added.
- Product plan: 80 t/a maltose syrup
- Main raw material: 68 tons/day of starch
- Labor quota: No new employees
- Working system: three 8hr shifts per day, 300 working days totaling 7,200 working hours per year
- Progress:
- Approval of EI report: Jan. 2020
- Started construction: Feb. 2016
- Completion: Jun. 2016
- On-site acceptance monitoring: 15-16 May, 2026
Currently, Wuhan COFCO has a total daily syrup output of 410 tons, comprising 330 tons/day of high-fructose syrup and 80 tons/day of maltose syrup.
