On 3 Jan., Baotou Ecological Environment Bureau accepted and publicized the environmental impact report for the xanthan gum expansion project by Baotou Huazi Industry Co., Ltd. (Baotou Huazi) (stock code 600191).

• Nature: Expansion
• Address: Donghe District, Baotou City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region
• Total Investment: USD27.8 million (RMB200 million), of which USD0.83 million (RMB6 million) is for environmental protection
• Construction content: Purchase and install a xanthan gum production line, equipment, and facilities, along with supporting facilities.
• Product plan: 10,000 t/a of xanthan gum
• Key raw material: 19,386 t/a of corn starch
• Labor quota: No new hires (relying on the existing 233 employees, including 155 production staff and 62 management and technical staff)
• Working system: Three 8hr shifts per day, 300 working days per year
• Construction period: 1 year Phase I of Baotou Huazi’s 10,000 t/a of xanthan gum project has been completed, and is currently in the trial production stage, with the project acceptance process underway.
