On 23 April, the environmental impact report for Shandong Yikang Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (Shandong Yikang)’s microbial agents and synthetic biology products project was released for pre-approval public consultation.

 

Project overview

• Nature: New construction
• Location: Pingyin County, Jinan City, Shandong Province
• Total investment: USD4.34 million (RMB30 million), of which USD0.29 million (RMB2 million) is for environmental protection
• Construction content: Lease idle production workshops, auxiliary buildings, warehouses, etc. from other companies; purchase fermenters, membrane separation units, crystallizers, freeze dryers, refrigeration units, ice water tanks, boilers, multi-effect evaporators, centrifuges, storage tanks, and other equipment.
• Product plan: 100 t/a of N-acetylneuraminic acid, 200 t/a of probiotics, 1,000 t/a of polyglutamic acid, 1,000 t/a of micro-ecological preparations, 500 t/a of beverages
• Main raw materials: 1,290 t/a of glucose, 60 t/a of corn steep liquor, 30 t/a of starch, strains, etc.
• Labor quota: 10 employees
• Working system: two 12hr shifts per day, 300 working days per year
