Fuyang Bio-tech Completed Modified Starch Expansion Project

Shandong Fuyang Bio-tech Co., Ltd. (Fuyang Bio-tech) previously had two modified starch production lines: one dry process line with a capacity of 5,000 t/a of cationic starch, and one wet process line with a capacity of 1,000 t/a of acetate starch and 14,000 t/a of oxidized starch.

According to the monitoring report publicized recently, Fuyang Bio-tech has completed its modified starch production system upgrading project.

    • The existing wet process line has been renovated and expanded, with over 30 units of modified starch material storage tanks, cyclones, separators, filter presses, and air-drying equipment either upgraded or newly purchased.
    • The original 5,000 t/a dry process line has been dismantled.
  • Product plan: 105,000 t/a wet process modified starch
  • Main raw materials: 187,000 t/a of starch slurry (42%)
  • Labor quota: No new hires, relying on the existing 70 employees
  • Working system: Three 8hr shifts per day, 330 working days per year
  • Process:
    • Approval of EI report: 5 Jun., 2023
    • Construction starts: Jan. 2024
    • Completion: 1 May, 2024
    • Commissioning: 1 Jun.-30 Nov., 2024

Two modified corn starch projects in Zouping city

On July 24, the local authority of Zouping City accepted and publicized the environmental impact assessment (EIA) documents for Shandong Hongsheng Starch Technology Co., Ltd. (Shandong Hongsheng)’s 50,000 t/a pre-gelatinized starch products & equipment optimization and upgrading technical transformation project.

Project overview

  • Type of project: Technical Innovation
  • Location: Shandong Hongsheng’s plant, Zouping City, Binzhou City, Shandong Province
  • Total investment: USD1.7 million (RMB12 million), of which USD0.17 million (RMB1.2 million) is environmental protection investment
  • Construction contents:
    • optimize and upgrade the production process and equipment of the existing projects;
    • transform the warehouse into a liquid pre-gelatinized starch production workshop;
    • add 37 sets of equipment such as stirring and dispersing tanks, double-screw circulating heating tanks, and biomass steam generators.
  • Product Scheme: After the transformation, the product will be optimized from the original 30,000 t/a liquid pregelatinized starch and 20,000 t/a solid pre-gelatinized starch to 45,000 t/a liquid pre-gelatinized starch and 5,000 t/a solid pregelatinized starch.
  • Main raw materials:
    • Corn starch (solid) reduced from 15,000 t/a to 8,000 t/a;
    • Corn starch (35%) reduced from 5,000 t/a to 3,000 t/a;
    • Tapioca starch (solid) reduced from 11,282 t/a to 9,651 t/a;
    • Hydroxypropyl cellulose 1,500 t/a (No change), etc.
  • Labor quota and working system: 10 persons. Three shifts, 300 days of work per year.
  • Construction period: 3 months

  • Location: Gaotang County, Liaocheng City, Shandong Province
  • Total investment: USD0.7 million (RMB5 million)
  • Construction contents:

Lease the existing idle plant, mainly purchase 4 sets of feeders, 2 sets of mixers, 2 sets of gelatinization silos, 2 sets of gelatinization machines, 2 sets of air conveyors, 2 sets of cooling silos, 2 sets of dust collectors, 2 sets of packaging silos and other equipment.

  • Product Scheme: 5,000 t/a gelatinized starch
  • Main raw materials: 5,000 t/a corn starch
  • Labor quota and working system: 5 persons. One shift system, working 300 days per year.
  • Construction period: 4 months
