Zhoushan Huakang Completed Stage 1 of Phase I of the Corn Deep-processing Project

According to the environmental protection acceptance monitoring report for the completion publicized n 2 Apr., Stage 1 of Phase I of the 1,000,000 t/a of corn deep-processing healthy food ingredient project of Zhoushan Huakang Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (Zhoushan Huakang) has been completed.

Stage 1 of Phase I overview

  • Nature: New construction
  • Location: Zhoushan Grain Industrial Park, Dinghai Industrial Park, Zhejiang Province
  • Total investment: USD261.4 million (RMB1876.72 million), of which USD9.24 million (RMB66.3658 million) is for environmental protection
  • Construction content: A crystalline sorbitol production line, with supporting facilities for bipolar membrane hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide production, methanol cracking for hydrogen, environmental protection facilities, and public utilities.
  • Product plan: 45,100 t/a of solid sorbitol and 1,300 t/a of liquid sorbitol
  • Key raw materials: DX glucose liquid.
    • Currently, the front-end production lines are in the gradual commissioning stage, so DX glucose liquid is purchased for production.
    • Hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide, and hydrogen are self-produced.
  • Labor quota: 700 employees
  • Working system: Three 8hr shifts per day, 300 working days per year
  • Progress:
    • Approval of EI report: 24 Feb., 2023
    • Commence: Oct. 2022
    • Completion: 30 Oct., 2024
    • Equipment Commissioning: 1 Nov., 2024 -28 Feb., 2025
    • On-site environmental monitoring: 20-21 Jan., 2025, and 6-11 Feb., 2025

 

Stage 2 of Phase I is under construction, including a corn starch slurry production line, a liquid maltitol production workshop, and a liquid sugar alcohol production line.

Shandong Jintian’s Maltitol Upgrading Project

On 25 Nov., the local authority accepted and publicized the environmental impact report for Shandong Jintian Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (Shandong Jintian)’s maltitol upgrading project.

 

Project overview

  • Nature: Technical transformation
  • Address: Yucheng National High-tech Industrial Development Zone, Dezhou City, Shandong Province
  • Total Investment: USD1.76 million (RMB 12.5 million), of which USD28,129.4 (RMB 200,000) is for environmental protection
  • Construction content: Utilize the existing production equipment, workshop, warehouse, laboratory, and auxiliary facilities from the current 500 t/a maltitol project (actul product is 500 t/a universal syrup), and also purchase over 80 sets of equipment and instruments, such as stainless steel constant temperature storage tanks, saccharification tanks, enzyme tanks, centrifuges, three-effect falling film evaporators, single-effect evaporators, crystallization tanks, spray drying towers, and powder sieves.
  • Product plan: 2,000 t/a of isomaltol, 6,000 t/a of universal syrups (containing malt syrup, HFCS, glucose, trehalose syrup, isomaltolose, lactulose), and 3,000 t/a of sugar-free syrups.
  • Main raw materials: Sucrose, 4,200 t/a of starch slurry (purchased).
  • Labor quota: No new hires; the project will use the current 30 staffs.
  • Working system: One shift per day, 8 hours per day, 300 working days per year.
  • Construction period: 6 months.
