CJ Liaocheng’s Food-Additives Retrofit Project

On 12 Dec., the Liaocheng Ecology and Environment Bureau released the acceptance notice for the environmental impact report of CJ (Liaocheng) Bio-technology Co., Ltd.’s (CJ Liaocheng) 4,550 t/a of food-additives retrofit project.

 

Project overview

  • Nature: Technical retrofit
  • Location: Economic & Technological Development Zone, Liaocheng City, Shandong Province
  • Total investment: RMB 110 million
  • Construction content: Upgrade the existing sugar plant, nucleotide fermentation plant and L9 nucleotide refining plant; retrofit the existing IMP-C line and add reactors, high-pressure homogenizers, SDC separators, filter presses, etc., to enable alternating production of IMP (disodium 5′-inosinate) and GMP (disodium 5′-guanylate).
  • Product plan: 6,000 t/a of IMP or 4,550 t/a of GMP
  • Main raw material: corn-starch slurry (purchased)
  • Labor quota: no additional staff
  • Working system: three 8hr shifts per day, 360 working days per year
  • Construction period: 6 months
  • IMP and GMP will be alternated at most once per year; five operating schemes are possible:
    • Scheme 1: 3 months GMP + 9 months IMP
    • Scheme 2: 6 months GMP + 6 months IMP
    • Scheme 3: 9 months GMP + 3 months IMP
    • Scheme 4: IMP only (full year)
    • Scheme 5: GMP only (full year)
