Baoshen Longcheng’s Amino Acid Project

Jiangsu Baoshen Longcheng Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Baoshen Longcheng) plans to invest USD8.4 million (RMB60 million) in a 1,920 t/a of food-grade amino acid project comprising 12 products: 100 t/a of DL-homocysteine thiolactone hydrochloride, 1,020 t/a of N-acetyl-L-cysteine, 100 t/a of N-acetyl-L-thioproline, 100 t/a of N-acetyl-L-tyrosine, 50 t/a of N-acetyl-(D)L-leucine, 100 t/a of L-ornithine hydrochloride. 50 t/a of S-hydroxymethyl-L-cysteine, 100 t/a of L-cysteine (base), 100 t/a of L-pyroglutamic acid, 50 t/a of L-cysteine hydrochloride anhydrous, 100 t/a of L-lysine hydrochloride and 50 t/a of L-ornithine aspartate.

Due to market conditions, the project will be built in two phases. On 10 Sept., the local Ecology & Environment Bureau approved the EI report for Phase I and released the decision for public inspection.

  • Location: Guannan County, Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province
  • Total investment: USD5.6 million (RMB40 million), of which USD0.14 million (RMB 1 million) is for environmental protection
  • Product plan:
    • 1,020 t/a of N-acetyl-L-cysteine
    • 100 t/a of N-acetyl-L-tyrosine
    • 100 t/a of L-ornithine hydrochloride
    • 50 t/a of S-hydroxymethyl-L-cysteine
    • 100 t/a of L-cysteine (base)
    • 50 t/a of L-cysteine hydrochloride anhydrous
    • 100 t/a of L-lysine hydrochloride
  • Key raw materials: L-cystine, L-tyrosine, L-arginine, L-lysine HCl, acetic anhydride, etc.
  • Labor quota: No additional staff (Relying on existing workforce)
  • Working system: three 8hr shifts per day, 300 working days per year
  • Construction period: 3 months

On 20 Jun., Ningxia Zhongke Biomaterials Co., Ltd. (Ningxia Zhongke) publicized the environmental impact report for its 119,000 t/a bio-fermentation products project.

 

Project overview

  • Nature: Technological renovation
  • Location: Shizuishan Economic and Technological Development Zone, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.
  • Total investment: USD13.9 million (RMB100.089 million)
  • Construction scale:
    • 18,000 t/a of Long chain Dicarboxylic Acid Flexible Production Line: Leverage existing fermentation tanks and extraction lines, construct a new extraction line to produce 10,000 t/a of sebacic acid, 1,000 t/a of undecanedioic acid, 2,000 t/a of tridecanedioic acid, 2,000 t/a of tetradecanedioic acid, and 1,000 t/a of each of pentadecanedioic acid, hexadecanedioic acid, and octadecanedioic acid.
    • 5,100 t/a of Bio fermented Functional Products Flexible Production Line:
      • Use existing fermentation tanks and extraction lines to build a new extraction line for producing 800 t/a of D-chiro-inositol, 300 t/a of coenzyme Q10, and 4,000 t/a of DHA algal oil.
    • 63,000 t/a of Bio food Flexible Production Line:
      • Utilize existing fermentation tanks and upgrade extraction lines to achieve a capacity of 3,000 t/a of calcium propionate and 60,000 t/a of L-malic acid.
    • 24,800 t/a of Amino Acid Products Flexible Production Line:
      • Use existing fermentation tanks and upgrade extraction lines to produce 3,000 t/a of L-arginine, 3,000 t/a of L-isoleucine, 5,000 t/a of L-tryptophan, 5,000 t/a of L-methionine, 5,000 t/a of L-threonine, 300 t/a of L-hydroxyproline, 500 t/a of L-histidine hydrochloride, 1,000 t/a of L-proline, 1,000 t/a of L-cysteine, and 1,000 t/a of glycine.
    • Production Process:
      • The process involves three main stages: seed cultivation, fermentation, and extraction.
      • Fermentation broth is produced by fermenting strains using glucose, yeast extract, and nitrogen-containing materials.
      • The broth is then treated through acidification, ceramic membrane filtration, crystallization, centrifugation, and drying to obtain the final products.
    • Labor quota: 102 new employees.
    • Working system: Four-shift three-rotation system, 360 working days totaling 8,640 hours per year.
    • Construction period: about 9 months (To start in Jul. 2025)

According to the monitoring report publicized on 9 Dec., Livzon Group (Ningxia) Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Livzon Ningxia) completed L-phenylalanine production line technical transformation project.

Project overview

  • Nature: Technical transformation
  • Location: Pingluo Industrial Park, Shizuishan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region
  • Total investment: USD0.65 million (RMB4.70 million)
  • Construction content: The existing L-phenylalanine production line, with a capacity of 13,000 t/a, underwent technical transformation to enable the production of tryptophan and L-isoleucine.
  • Product plan:
    • L-phenylalanine production was maintained for 183 days, the capacity reduced from 13,000 t/a to 9,000 t/a.
    • Tryptophan, L-isoleucine, and L-phenylalanine are produced alternately for 147 days, with three production schemes throughout the year:
      • Producing solely 4,000 t/a of tryptophan；
      • Simultaneously producing 2,000 t/a of tryptophan and 2,000 t/a of L-isoleucine；
      • Producing solely 4,000 t/a of L-isoleucine.
    • Main raw materials: The production of 4,000 t/a of tryptophan requires approximately 23,000 t/a of glucose (purchased).
    • Labor quota: No new employees

On 10 Dec., the environmental impact report for Hangzhou Hetai Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (Hangzhou Hetai)’s 3,200 t/a of amino acids technical transformation project was accepted and published.

Project overview

  • Nature: Reconstruction
  • Location: High-tech Industrial Park, Jiande City, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province
  • Total investment: USD2.09 million (RMB 15 million)
  • Construction contents:
    • Addition of 2,560 t/a new feed additives (1,200 t/a of tryptophan, 640 t/a of isoleucine, 480 t/a of leucine, 240 t/a histidine)；
    • 640 t/a food additives (300 t/a of tryptophan, 160 t/a of isoleucine, 120 t/a of leucine, 60 t/a of histidine),
    • while reducing the existing production of feed-grade vitamin B12 by 80 t/a and feed-grade vitamin B2 by 820 t/a.
    • Establishment of a new fermentation research and development line for the development of new additives.
  • Labor quota: 30 new employees
  • Working system: three-8hr-shift per day, 355 working days per year
  • Construction period: 24 months
