On August 2, the Shijiazhuang Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone planned to approve the environmental impact assessment (EIA) document of Hebei Qianyang Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (Hebei Qianyang)’s 30,000 t/a amino acid project (first phase project).

On July 24, the local authority of Zouping City accepted and publicized the environmental impact assessment (EIA) documents for Shandong Hongsheng Starch Technology Co., Ltd. (Shandong Hongsheng)’s 50,000 t/a pre-gelatinized starch products & equipment optimization and upgrading technical transformation project.

Project overview

  • Type of project: Technical Innovation
  • Location: Shandong Hongsheng’s plant, Zouping City, Binzhou City, Shandong Province
  • Total investment: USD1.7 million (RMB12 million), of which USD0.17 million (RMB1.2 million) is environmental protection investment
  • Construction contents:
    • optimize and upgrade the production process and equipment of the existing projects;
    • transform the warehouse into a liquid pre-gelatinized starch production workshop;
    • add 37 sets of equipment such as stirring and dispersing tanks, double-screw circulating heating tanks, and biomass steam generators.
  • Product Scheme: After the transformation, the product will be optimized from the original 30,000 t/a liquid pregelatinized starch and 20,000 t/a solid pre-gelatinized starch to 45,000 t/a liquid pre-gelatinized starch and 5,000 t/a solid pregelatinized starch.
  • Main raw materials:
    • Corn starch (solid) reduced from 15,000 t/a to 8,000 t/a;
    • Corn starch (35%) reduced from 5,000 t/a to 3,000 t/a;
    • Tapioca starch (solid) reduced from 11,282 t/a to 9,651 t/a;
    • Hydroxypropyl cellulose 1,500 t/a (No change), etc.
  • Labor quota and working system: 10 persons. Three shifts, 300 days of work per year.

Lease the existing idle plant, mainly purchase 4 sets of feeders, 2 sets of mixers, 2 sets of gelatinization silos, 2 sets of gelatinization machines, 2 sets of air conveyors, 2 sets of cooling silos, 2 sets of dust collectors, 2 sets of packaging silos and other equipment.

Shandong Xiangrui’s 300,000 t/a monosodium glutamate project

On August 13, Dongping County Ecological Environment Bureau accepted and publicized the Environmental Impact (EI) Report of Shandong Xiangrui Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. (Shandong Xiangrui)’s 300,000 t/a monosodium glutamate project.

  • Type of project: New construction
  • Total investment: USD123 million (RMB888.07 million)
  • Construction contents: construction of production plants, tanks and other facilities, using existing engineering products (glucose, corn syrup) as raw materials, the production of 300,000 t/a monosodium glutamate and 30,000 t/a mycelium protein (by-products).
  • Labor quota: 200 people, transferred from existing employees, working 333 days, 8000hours per year.

The current capacity of Shandong Xiangrui is consuming 364,800 t/a of corn to produce 240,000 t/a of corn starch, 200,000 t/a of pharmaceutical-grade glucose, 120,000 t/a of anhydrous glucose, 20,000 t/a of food-grade glycerol, and so on.

Puyang Hongye’s’ Furfuryl Alcohol Reconstruction Project

Xinlianxin’s furfural project processing well

Recently, at the construction site of Inner Mongolia Xinlianxin Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (Xinlianxin) in Dalad Economic Development Zone, tower cranes stand in great numbers and machinery roars, and the project progress is advancing in an orderly manner. Xinlianxin planned to invest USD159.06 million (RMB1.15 billion) to construct the biomass efficient circular utilization and clean production project. The project will be constructed in two phases, and the Phase I Project officially started in early March 2024.

Phase I project overview

  • Location: Sanchangliang Industrial Area, Dalat Industrial Park, Dalat Economic Development Zone, Ordos, Inner Mongolia, China
  • Total investment: USD55 million (RMB400 million), of which environmental protection investment is USD0.57 million (RMB4.09 million)
  • Construction contents and scale: produce 20,000 tons of furfural per year, mainly to build furfural workshops, sheds, yards, furfural storage tanks and other storage and transportation projects, as well as supporting public and auxiliary projects and environmental protection projects.
  • Main raw materials: 220,000 t/a corn cobs
  • Labor quota and working system: 130 people, 300 working days per year
  • Environmental impact assessment (EIA) approval: January 16, 2024
